A few weeks ago I was searching Groupon, and came across this Sirius Aurora Light Therapy System. It was $70 (usually $149) so I decided to give it a try.
Because my skin is acne-prone, and has some scarring from past break-outs, I was very excited for the blue light attachment. I’m almost 27, of course I’m worried about wrinkles and age spots, but my main skin-care priority is preventing new break-outs.
The device also comes with a red light attachment, and a green light attachment. I haven’t really used the green one, but the one time I did, my fiancé said I looked like the wicked witch from The Wizard Of Oz…yikes!
I’ve been using the blue light pretty much daily for about 5 weeks. The instructions are to use for a total of 24 minutes – yeah, there’s no way! I just try to focus on my T-zone for at least 3 minutes, and usually manage to sneak in 12 minutes. There have been definite results, and I’m sure I could see even more improvement in less time if I was able to complete the entire 24 minute routine.
I also use the red light, but not as much. I try to get at least 3 minutes a day, using it in-between my eyebrows, crows feet, and lips.
I’ve noticed some dryness after using this product, but my skin tends to dry out fairly easily. I’ve stopped using face wash with salicylic acid, and switched to Dove brand bar soap – very gentle and moisturizing.
The improvements I’ve seen are
- black heads shrinking and disappearing
- redness around my nose diminishing
- lips seem a bit redder and fuller
- clogged pores are healing before having a chance to become inflamed
- pimples are smaller and heal faster than they have in the past
- skin feels softer, smoother, and looks more vibrant
- pores appear smaller
I used to wear fairly heavy foundation every day, and now I get enough coverage from bb cream and a tiny bit of concealer.
I’d recommend this Smash Box Second Skin concealer to everybody.
It gives amazing coverage and lasts all day. You only need to use a VERY tiny amount. It takes me longer than a year to go through one tube. I usually buy it from eBay for around $13.
I’ve tried a few bb creams, the one I’ve liked best is dream fresh from Maybelline. It feels light and gives my skin a very natural-looking glow.
