Splenda Sweet

I know I know, it’s been a really long time since I posted anything

I originally promised myself that this blog would remain positive, and I wouldn’t use this space to write about negative or ugly things.

I guess that translates to “having nothing to write about during the holiday season”

**if you’re wondering about my hair, I have temporarily put my no-poo on pause, I’ve only been using the 70% organic from Avalon.

But I did make my own liquid soap, by melting local-made bar soap.

And I’ve started making my own thieves oil, and my geezess that stuff is amazing!!

I use organic olive oil and add in all my favorite essential oils… eucalyptus, tea tree, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, lemongrass, rose-hip seed, lavender, jasmine, peppermint, spearmint … i think that’s all.

Brindle Babes

On Monday…

My Vienna puppy and her mama-dog, Isis, got to spend the day together.

Isis (on the right) is all pitbull, Vienna (on the left) is half pit and half bull mastiff.

They’re both furocious!

A friend and I went through a phase of making doll-house items.

And I set-up a glimpse in to a completed room.

Now we just need to finish all the other rooms

oh and eventually we may need an actual doll house …

No-Poo Update

The No-Poo thing has continued! Thank Jesus for winter weather because a few days there I never could have left the house if it weren’t for being able to wear a hat.

And I’m SOO glad I pushed myself through the rugged days because I finally see actual undeniable improvement.  I didn’t do too great of a job taking pictures or keeping a journal with every detail every day..

I did cheat a little bit too … I found this 70% organic shampoo made by Avalon Organics – and I used it 3 times over the last 4 weeks – I would absolutely recommend you try it – but the whole point of going without shampoo is to not use shampoo! So, that’s why I’ve only used it a few times.

Also, I usually use this mousse by Giovanni Cosmetics. The company website is ridiculously fancy but this product is also supposedly healthier than regular hair mousse. I’d agree that it works well, not a miracle product (for me anyway) but still nice and I would buy it again.

So this is day 6. My hair didn’t look too great but I could feel that build-up loosening.

On Day 8 after a vinegar and beer rinse, it was all a mess, but pieces were curly and kind of cute. (I couldn’t get a very good picture.)

Halloween (day 12) I was dressed in 80′s and had to have big hair to match.

This first picture is how my hair looked that morning when I got up and brushed it with a round-barrel brush (also I was half-way finished with putting on my rockin 80′s make-up, I don’t always look like a clown!)

Then I used loads of hairspray and backcombed most of it. The look was totally 80′s, but all that torture felt like a bit of a set-back.

The next day I washed it with crazy potion I mixed and it looked pretty cute.

The concoction I created was some kind of pineapple-papaya reduction, and I did really like how it made my hair look but it smelled really bad and at one point I had to plug my nose and dump it all out because I was convinced I would start puking if I smelled it just one more time. I think the pineapple was a good idea, not the papaya but I haven’t made any more to find out.

So it’s getting easier and I don’t have to rinse my hair every day, I’m still experimenting with ingredients and different combinations.

A pretty reliable combo I found was using baking soda mixed with glycerin, rinse it with vinegar water, then pour on a beer (room temp.) but it doesn’t leave you smelling too great.

So I’m going to this concert (Day 28) and need my hair to be big, puffy, and able to stay that way all night. Instead of hairspray, I whipped two egg whites until they got foamy, added a little vanilla ( I read that the alcohol prevents any bad smell)

I also mixed in a bunch of glitter since I was going to a concert

No lie, this is 3 days later, same vanilla-egg-white hair, unrinsed. It does look a little dusted in this picture, I think that might be from the glitter, but I didn’t put any powder on to absorb oils or anything, I just ran a straightener through it.

it’s been a month, and I think my hair has grown almost an entire inch – but I could be wrong and exaggerating, but seriously, look at the pictures!

And that’s the No-Poo story so far

Moving Forward

Sorry to have not posted for so long, I got lost in a few other projects – including writing on actual paper with a real pen! Typing on a keyboard could never be as intimate as handwriting.

Still, a voice in my head keeps saying “Most people don’t even read books, and nobody wants to read your books, unless you’re a d-list celebrity anyway…”

desperate and shameless ploy to reach D-list fameI like to cover all my bases, so while I work on writing fiction, (that is *hopefully* so amazingly badass that every one will want to read it again and again, ) I might as well join the ever growing reality-television waiting list.

And it shouldn’t be too long of a wait, because the New Yorker accent will get old soon, and some one will remember  “Oh yeah, they talk funny up North, too. Let’s go film that.”

yeah sure ya betcha then dontcha know

UFFDA – So now I need to figure out what parts of my reality would be worth exploiting. Maybe it would be a show called “The Weirdest People You’ll Probably Never know.”

Something like that anyway.

Otherwise, my secret talent is that I can make a costume outfit out of anything

And Im too tired to explain, that will have to wait, but I want to get this picture up

(i'll totally be your black swan shuga!)

I got to meet TechN9ne (Aaron Dontez Yates) yesterday, and he had a good energy, beautiful soul, and a deep indigo vibe. It was the best part of the entire concert experience.

Wordz

Pablo asked me

“Does Pepsi sound good to you?”

And I said

“I got that pop that I bought from the co-op.”

And that pretty much rhymed

Totally Funny-er-est

Oh Dear Lord – I really am an adult now

because I reached the magic number, not 18…

In the weeks leading up to my birthday, I had a mini-melt-down for seemingly no reason. Just something about that number was terrifying

And it was this constant panicky-anxious feeling about not being ready. When I talked to other women about it, I was soo relieved to hear that most of them can relate to the experience…

Remembering back to the Polly Pocket phase of my childhood (6-11ish) – WOW what high expectations we had for ourselves. And it seemed that the way to achieve our goals was simple _ get older

A basic idea of my dream life was something like …

  • Graduate from highschool with full scholarships
  • Move to Ireland or Germany at 18
  • Go to College until I’m 22 or 23
  • Travel and see the world and party until I’m…..25

“I don’t want to get married right away, I’ll wait until I’m 25.  Then I can have my first kid when I’m 26 and be done having kids by the time I’m 32. I don’t want my kids to be the *those kids with the ugly old mom. I want to be a fun mom, like really pretty and cool.”

  • (insert billion dollar dream wedding to Prince Eric)

  • Live Happily Ever After – The End

……….some how, things just didn’t turn out that way……

And miraculously, I survived, my birthday came and went with out me magickally being rich, successful, married and pregnant over night, and the world kept moving the entire time. Maybe it will be happily ever after, because it’s totally up to me!
